Adventures for Singles Inc. takes groups to exotic destinations around the world.

Atlanta-based Adventures for Singles Inc.’s global excursions can help international business travelers enjoy traveling for pleasure while gaining knowledge of new cultures and making international contacts, Suzy Davis, the tour company’s founder told GlobalAtlanta.

Ms. Davis leads groups of 40 professionals on eight- to 10-day adventure tours to various destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.  Most attendees are unmarried, educated professionals from a variety of industries, backgrounds and countries, though most are from the United States.

“Our niche is really single professionals who want to see traveling the world as recess, not just work,” Ms. Davis said in an interview in Vinings. “If people can take just one life-changing adventure per year, they’ll realize that life is so much more than work. Travel is something that can rejuvenate your mind by immersing yourself in new cultures and gaining new knowledge.”

Each tour is unique because Ms. Davis believes the world “has infinite possibilities for tours that expose people to things they have never experienced before.” And, having traveled extensively for 30 years, she personally does not want to repeat the same trip too many times.

During the week of April 19-27, Ms. Davis took a group throughout Morocco where they spent a night in tents in the Sahara Desert and took a camel caravan safari and jeep rides over the Merzouga sand dunes. They did a walking tour of Imperial Fez and traveled through the Atlas Mountains to Erfoud, Tinghir, Essaouira and the Todra Gorges. They also visited a Berber village in Quarzazate and dined with a Moroccan family before touring Marrakesh and Casablanca.

In May, the company will lead two trips throughout China, including a cruise on the Yangtze River. In July, two groups will tour the Tuscany region of Italy.

A group is to visit Singapore and then Borneo in the South Pacific to observe orangutans in August. The September trip is a Mediterranean cruise to Italy, Croatia, Greece and Turkey.

In October, Ms. Davis will lead a group on an elephant-back safari through Zambia, Botswana and South Africa and will visit Victoria Falls.

Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, are destinations on the November tour, and Ms. Davis will lead a tour to Lapland, Finland, in December for dog sledding and other activities in the Artic Circle.

Adventures for Singles has a client database of 7,000 travelers, and 70 percent of its customers return for additional trips, Ms. Davis said. Most trips sell out quickly because people are looking for ways to see the world without braving it on their own, she said.

Adventures for Singles has recently added some tours that are especially for travelers who abstain from alcoholic drinks, and next year, Ms. Davis said she will incorporate community service volunteer projects into some of her tours.

Recent past tours have included visiting the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador, encountering gorillas in Uganda, exploring Lake Titicaca, the Uros Islands and Machu Picchu in Peru, tracing the steps of Dracula and vampires legends in Romania, safaris in South Africa, chocolate and beer tours in Europe, treks in Vietnam and Singapore, sailing the Greek Isles, walkabouts in Australia and New Zealand, tours of southern Spain and Morocco, sledding in Iceland, shopping in German Christmas markets, exploring ancient and modern India, safaris in Kenya and a cruise in Scandinavia.

All tours include first class hotels, daily breakfasts and some lunches and dinners. They are guided by two guides, either Ms. Davis, her husband and business manager Terry Davis, travel writer and television producer Janice McDonald or U.S. Bank Vice President Carol Huntington.
