U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon

Sonny Perdue will host the top official from the
United Nations for a luncheon at the
Governor’s Mansion May 8.
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, a former foreign minister of South Korea, will be met by cultural, political, military and religious leaders at the Atlanta event.
“Our state is known across the globe as a center for culture and commerce, and the secretary general’s visit demonstrates that Georgia is truly a part of the world community,” Mr. Perdue said in a release.
No immediate details were given about the time of the event or whether or not Mr. Ban will give a speech.
Mr. Ban took over as secretary general on Jan. 1, 2007. His diplomatic career began the year after he graduated college and has continued for nearly 40 years.
