The 2009 Southeastern United States-Canadian Provinces Alliance conference is to be held May 20-22 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with Georgia acting as a co-host.
Trevor Taylor, the senior representative of Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2008 conference, announced the location during a press conference including representatives of six Southeastern states and seven Canadian provinces.
“The inaugural SEUS-Canadian Provinces Alliance conference in Savannah has made history, and I know next year’s event in Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to strengthen these important relationships,” Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue said in a statement.
“I look forward to hosting the 2009 conference in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Mr. Taylor. “I am pleased to have our partners in Georgia as co-hosts as we build on the success of this year’s inaugural event and strengthen our relationships.”
The alliance was chartered in Montreal in November 2007 to promote trade, investment, tourism and educational and friendship ties.
The participating states and provinces are Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee and Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
