HSW International Inc. on June 24 launched a Chinese-language Web site with more than 1,800 articles translated from the popular English-language Web site, HowStuffWorks.com.

The company’s Beijing-based staff translated the content for the new site, which is called BoWenWang in keeping with HSW International’s mission to provide “culturally relevant” information as it develops Internet businesss in China, Brazil and other digital markets.

BoWenWang refers to the Chinese idiom "Bo Wen Qiang Ji," which is said to identify a person with encyclopedic knowledge about many subjects.

In view of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, HSW International has also included on the new site some 300 original articles related to the history, culture and business of the Olympics.

Media conglomerate Discovery Communications LLC merged with HowStuffWorks Inc. last December, but HSW International owns the exclusive digital publishing rights in Brazil and China to some content published on HowStuffWorks.com.

In addition to the China site, HSW International operates ComoTudoFunciona (www.hsw.com.br), a Portuguese-language site in Brazil that also carries more than a thousand translated articles from HowStuffWorks.com.

The company is headquartered in Atlanta.
