Alpharetta Trucking Company Presents Green Initiatives at National Expo

Alpharetta-based trucking company AmeriFleet Transportation presented a program of company-wide environmental initiatives at a national logistics conference May 4-5.

The National Association of Fleet Administrators Inc.’s 2008 Institute & Expo in Salt Lake City focused on environmental practices in the transportation and logistics industries.

AmeriFleet’s green initiatives include efforts to reduce waste in their U.S. and Canadian offices and fuel consumption by their drivers.

John Norris, company president, said that environmental protection is “one of our guiding principles and a key component of sound business performance.”

Each of AmeriFleet’s 16 regional offices are using sensor lighting in the workplace, composting lunch and kitchen waste and using biodegradable rags and cleaning products, recyclable paper and printer cartridges.

The program calls for company drivers to turn off their engines when idle for 10 seconds or more and use alternative fuels, when possible.
