Executives from five
Australian water companies and the chief executive director of the
Australian Water Association are to attend the
American Water Works Association annual conference to be held June 9-11 at the
Georgia World Congress Center.
“Globally, water is a scarce commodity and nations are seeking new next-generation technologies to ensure efficient and effective use and re-use of our most precious resource,” Tom Mollenkopf, the Australian association’s chief executive, said in a statement.
“Australia is well placed to assist the United States and other countries around the world facing water management challenges now and into the future,” he said.
The Denver-based American Water Works Association traces its origin to 1881 when it was formed to exchange information pertaining to the management of waterworks. It now has some 57,000 members worldwide.
The executives are touring areas of the U.S. facing acute water resource challenges, including Georgia. They are to visit Washington and Phoenix, Ariz., following the Atlanta conference.
The companies have expertise in soil moisture profiling, reduction of evaporation, smart information technology for irrigation systems and wastewater treatment.
The Australian Water Association is composed of 200 water-related companies based in the state of South Australia.
