Dr. Endicott Returns to Atlanta to Promote Business School in Daejeon, Korea

John Endicott, president of Woosong University and vice chancellor of its affiliate, Solbridge International School of Business, both in Daejeon, Korea, returned to Atlanta the week of May 4 to promote the development of business and educational ties.

Dr. Endicott is a former professor of the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and director of the Center for International Strategy, Technology and Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

He spoke to some 300 guests at a dinner May 4 of the Korean American Association of Greater Atlanta and the Korean Southeast U.S. Chamber of Commerce that was held at the Korean American Community Center at 6930 Buford Highway in Doraville.

He also spoke on the evening of May 6 at the offices of Arnall Golden and Gregory LLP where he encouraged the 40 guests to consider visiting Solbridge International as a base for developing business ties throughout Asia.

The new business school, where all the classes are taught in English, is seeking students who wish to earn master’s of business administration or master’s of international business with a focus on Asia.

Atlanta Immigration Attorney to Speak at South Africa Conference

Sarah Hawk, an immigration partner at Atlanta-based labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP is to speak at an international legal conference in Pilanesburg, South Africa May 14-18.

The conference is being produced by the Center for International Legal Studies, a Salzburg, Austria-based institute for law research, training and publication.

Other speakers are to come from Europe, the Americas and Asia to examine international legal issues including Ms. Hawk’s specialty, business immigration.

Ms. Hawk is involved with several local international organizations.  She serves as legal counsel on the board of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, Atlanta’s Japan-America Society and the Georgia-Asian Pacific Bar Association.

Atlanta Lawyer Named to Nafta Panel

Damon Pike, a customs and international trade attorney at Atlanta-based firm Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLP was selected by the office of the U.S. trade representative to a North American Free Trade Agreement legal panel May 6.

The panel of lawyers from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. are selected from rosters of trade law experts in each country to review cases of disputes or possible tax infringement by international companies operating under Nafta.

Mr. Pike is one of 50 U.S. attorneys to serve on the panel and was previously appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Exporters’ Textile Advisory Committee, which advises the Department of Commerce on export barriers and market expansion possibilities.
