Brief Overview:

Troy University’s Atlanta Site has drawn upon the scholastic tradition of the University since the main campus was founded in Alabama in 1887. Today, the Atlanta Site is one of more than 60 TROY Sites located outside of Alabama. However, because the Site does not receive Alabama State funding, it is dependent on its own financial resources.

“We have to run it like a small business,” Dr. Philip Perkins, site director of Troy University’s Atlanta Site, told GlobalAtlanta. The Atlanta Site caters to nontraditional students by offering evening, weekend, and online courses. Convenient class times, affordable tuition, and accelerated terms allow students to complete a SACS accredited degree without putting their lives on hold.

The more than 500 students currently enrolled at the Site are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as completing certificate programs for English as a Second Language and Polygraph Certification.

Troy University’s Atlanta Site offers an Associate of Science degree in General Education, Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Criminal Justice, and Master of Science degrees in Management, Human Resource Management and Post Secondary Education.

The Site also offers a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration.

Because of Troy University’s affiliation with the U.S. military, the Atlanta Site has a global perspective that has prompted Dr. Perkins to travel frequently abroad, primarily to Latin America these days, in search of international students and cooperative programs with foreign institutions.

The Troy University Polygraph Center, housed through the Atlanta Site, is unique in that it is the only APA (American Polygraph Association) accredited program in the country that is offered through a public university. This combination allows students to receive college credit while gaining polygraph certification.  The 10-week program attracts students from around the world.

TROY has also been a pioneer in distance learning. The University began offering distance learning in the mid-1950’s with mailing programs primarily to soldiers stationed abroad and has blossomed into a highly sophisticated program that makes use of the latest information technology. Today, the Troy University eCampus offers ten undergraduate degrees and 8 graduate degrees entirely online.
